Resort World Bhd. started 1980 in Malaysia. Tan Sri Lim Gohtong was the founder of Genting Resort World Bhd. and now his second eldest son Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay was running the entire organization. In 1989 Genting group and Resort World Bhd. underwent and restructuring exercise, which resulted in Resort World Bhd. acquiring from Genting group of its entire gaming, hotel, and resort-related operation inclusive of goodwill and other relevant assets. Resort World Bhd. is the subsidiary company of Genting Bhd. under the lesiure and hospitality division. Basically it manages everything at Genting  Highlands except First World Hotel and First World Plaza, which are under First World Hotel and Resort  Sdn Bhd. The name of the company is Genting Bhd. It is one of the very big company of the world. Under this company there are a lot of sub branch. Genting Highland also called fun city above the cloud.

Bhd. uneder property division, Asiatic Centre for genome technology Sdn Bhd. under bio-technology division, Genting Power Holding Limited under power division, and Genting Oil and Gas limiter under oil and gas division. Now also the Genting Bhd. is going to open the Maxims Club in Singapore. 

Resort World Bhd. main activities includes tourist resort business at Genting Highlands and its activities cover leisure and hospitality services, which comprise amusement, gaming, hotel and entertainment. There are currently six hotel properties at Genting Highlands Resort comprising Genting hotel, Highland hotel, Theme park hotel, Resort hotel, Awana Genting Highlands Golf and Country Resort and First World Hotel. People tend to be confused in determining the exact name of the place. The geographical name of the place is Genting Highlands.

The official company names managing the activities at the highlands are Resort World and First World Hotel and Resort Sdn. Bhd. The two companies combine and become Genting Highlands Resorts, which motto Genting-city of entertainment. Genting Highlands, only fifty kilometers (less than an hour) form Kula Lunpur, is the most developed hill resort in Malaysia. At 2000 meters above the sea level, it offers a respite from Malaysia's capital city combined with all of the excitement, luxury, and entertainment of an international resort destination. In fact many Malaysian people come Genting Highlands especially for its night life. There are international dinner shows and discos, while the world class Casino de Genting offers Blackjack, Baccarat, Keno, French Bull, Roulette, Tai Sai, and Slot machines. Genting Highlands is informally known as the "Las Vegas of Malaysia". The Genting Highlands are the perfect destination for all those who go in search of an enjoyable vacation. This place is located on the boarder between the states of Pahang  and Selangor of Malaysia and is perched on the Titiwangsa Mountains. The place is famous for the Genting Highlands Resort that attracts tourist form all over the world. This is one interesting thing that this is only the place in whole Malaysia where there is a casino. This place also provide ample of fun things to do for visitors who come at Genting Highland and also have many tourist attraction and places to see.

Theme Park Hotel is the first hotel to be built at Genting Highlands Resorts at its early development in 1971. Initially, Theme Park Hotel was called Highlands Hotel, but it was renamed later on. The hotel was initially planned on March 31, 1969 by the founder of Genting Berhad, Lim Goh Tong from Fujian, China who migrated to Malaysia in his early age. Looking at his great effort, Malaysia's first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman was touched and give him the one and only license to operate casino in Malaysia on April 28, 1969. Theme Park Hotel is located exactly at the main entrance to Genting outdoor theme park. It has two restaurant at its ground floor, which are Happy Valley Restaurant and Penang Food Village Resturant.

To accommodate its increasing guests, not long after its development, Resorts World Bhd. added more rooms inside the Valley Wing, attached to the main hotel building. Theme Park Hotel is conveniently located within easy reach from the Arena of Stars and Genting Theme Park, with its myriad attractions for the young and old alike.

The Genitng Hotel is a 5-star premier hotel at the Genting Highlands Resort, Pahang, Malaysia. Towering Majestically at 6,000 feet above the sea level is the five star international class Genting Hotel. It offers an extensive range of entertainment and recreational facilities for the discerning guests. Genting Hotel was Built in 1978 as the second hotel in Genting Highlands Resort. This hotel is also called the House of Casino. It has big Genting logo at its top standing at the height of 6,000 ft (1,800 m) above sea level facing Kuala Lumpur, Ulu Kali and the lake side located at the outdoor theme park. From the top view, it forms the Y shape, having three long corridors. The top floor houses the Maxim Club categorized as a 6-star hotel. Facilities provided by the hotel are Business centre, non-smoking room, interconnecting rooms, handicapped facilities, indoor heated swimming pool, jacuzzi, baby cot, shopping outlets, casino, free car parking and many more. If we talk about food outlets than this hotel have The Olive Restaurant, Ming Ren Restaurant, Genting Place, Coffee Terrace, Lao Di Fang, New Orleans Barbecue, The Bakery, Safari Disco, Sports Book, Cloud 9, Be A Star Karaoke Box, Fast Food Restaurant.

This hotel is 4-star property having total room 838. The hotel have cool comfort and majestic natural landscapes of Genting. Facilities provided by hotel are Banquet and meeting room, non-smoking room, interconnecting rooms (expect standard rooms), handicapped facilities and also have Genting's biggest eating and buffet restaurant.The hotel itself has a safe, currency exchange, lift access, a shop, a casino and a restaurant. Room and laundry services are also available and guests with vehicles can use the hotel's car park free of charge. Casino of Resort Hotel is merge with casino of Highland Hotel and casino of Maxims Genting Hotel. Most of the guest visit to Genting Highland for gambling because there is only one hotel running casino in Malaysia. All casino are opened for 24 hour. This hotel is suitable for all the types guest because they provide each and every facility like for business guest they have meeting room with modern technology, for holiday guest they have theme park, shopping complex, fun ride etc which helps them to make their holiday unforgettable.

Highland Hotel is one of the major hotel in Genting Highland categorized as a 5-star property with world class facilities. The total room of the Highland Hotel is 835 with standard, deluxe and club elite. Club Elite is the VIP floor having theme room structure for eg. Chines Room having all the room amenities with red color which describe the Chines culture. It has also the Genting Sky way upper station, the cable car ride station for people to go up to Genting Highlands Resort from the lower satation located near Gohtong Jaya.

On 26 July 2002, Dr. Mahathir Graced the official opening of the First World Hotel and Plaza Complex, Genting Highlands Resort's newest and biggest single Development project to-date. First World Hotel is the third largest hotel in the world by rooms. It comprises Tower 1 and Tower 2, each with 28 floor, and has a total of 6,118 rooms. It was the largest hotel in the world until The Palazzo, an expansion of The Venetian in Las Vegas was opened in January 2008.

The hotel is managed by First World Hotel and Resorts Sdn. Bhd, one of two major companies operating at Genting Highlands resorts (the other is Resorts World Bhd.). Major facilities of the complex include the 106,000-sq ft Genting International Convention Centre which seats 6000; a Grand Ballroom with the largest column-free interior in Malaysia; over 150 retail and food and beverage outlets and a 500,000-sq ft indoor theme park that is the largest in Southeast Asia.

Here, visitors of all can enjoy themselves with a wide variety of adventures and fun rides. Thrill-seekers are guaranteed a constant flow of adrenaline by trying the Euro-Express Roller Coaster. or RM 10 million Genting Sky Venture, which i one of  two such facilities in the world and the first in Asia to offer visitors a chance to experience skydiving without boarding an aircraft. Aspiring mountaineers can test their skills at the Genting X' pedition Wall. Malaysia's Biggest and tallest world-class climbing wall. Those who long for a snowy winter can head for the spin or two on the toboggan slide.

On December 18, 2006, Guinness World Records listed the First World Hotel as world's largest hotel complex by number and not by constructed area.

Chin Swee Temple

 The Story about the development of Genting Highlands would not be complete without talking about two things: The Chin Swee Temples and the origin of the name "Genting". Both of these have been the subjects of much speculation. The construction of the Chin Swee temples half way up Gunung Ulu Kali was, in fact, part of the master development plan to add a tourist attraction to the resort. In 1966, when construction of the access road had reached the side where the Chin Swee Temple stands, several workers and owner have spent the night in a cave at the end of a hard day's work. In 1975, they set up a temple-building committee to take charge of the implementation of the project. Work on Phase one of the projected started in 1976 and was completed after three years at a cost of RM 1.6 million. Phase two extension of the temple project, which saw the addition of a nine-storey pagoda, a imposing image of Buddha, wall sculptures and other features, commenced in the middle of 1988 and was completed in 1993. After 18 long years and costing over RM 10 million, the Chin Swee Temple was officially opened on 29 March 1994 By the Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Dr. Ling Liong Sik in a ceremony attended by scores of VIPs and thousands of people of Malaysia.

Genting Highland is popularly known as the city of entertainment. We can get all types entertainment facilities to all types of people. So that everybody can feel happy here. The main and the core attraction is the casinos, which is only one casino in Malaysia is also in Genting, there are lots of shopping complex, to enjoy for adults as well as children, there are indoor theme park and out door theme park which we called as the Malaysia third biggest water park, if anybody want to take a taste of snow and want to enjoy with snow, then we have the man made snow world, if anybody wants to see the movies, then we have Cineplex, the arena of stars for the live show, for the night life we have safari disco, Genting sky way, chin swee temple, games park all are located inside the Genting hotel. So it is the place where people can get everything they want for entertainment. This is the reason that Malaysian people call Genting as a city of entertainment.

How to Reach Genting...

Genting Highland is only about one hour far from the capital city of Malaysia i.e. Kualalumpur. It is about two hours from Kualalumpur International Airport (KLIA). We can take a taxi from the airport as well as from kualalumpur also. Anywhere and at any time we can get taxi from these places. If any one wants to travel by bus from kualalumpur, there is a Genting bus as well. It leaves from many part of the capital city so that we can get the bus easily. Besides the Genting bus, many other buses from different companies are also coming to Genting to provide the service. If anybody wishes to travel by helicopter directly to Genting, there is also a helipad in the Genting hotel. The road is also very good so that everybody will enjoy their travel either by car and taxi or by bus.For Genting staff they provide 40 percent discount on Bus service.

All the employee working under the resort world bhd are provided a lot of facilities. All the staffs get their own room in different staff residence quarter. There are eight staff residence quarter and one staff quarter is known as executive quarter where all the executive personal used to stay. The Genting skyway is free for all the staff if they have their identity. There are lots of bus services which is free for the Genting staff around the Genting Hotel. The bus service is also one of the major income sources for Genting. The Genting staffs get more then 60 % discount on the bus rate if they wish to go anywhere from Genting. If they can provide their identity as a Genting staff, everywhere they can get a heavy discount. There are two clinics for the Genting hotel. One is in the Maxims Genting hotel and one in the First World hotel. Both clinics are open for the staff and we all can get free treatment and medicine from there. If the case is serious, they also provide an ambulance to the staff to go to kualalumpur for the treatment.

My work experience of 6 months in Maxims Genting hotel as a trainee…

After waiting long time, today on 16th November, I leave Nepal with lots of expectation, lots of excitement and lots of joys and happiness and come here in Malaysia that is Genting Highland city of entertainment for my on the job training. We come to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at around 2:30 am in the morning. The people from human resource department are already there to pick up. Then we all wait for the friends who are coming by Royal Nepal Airlines (RNAC). When they all arrive to the airport we all are leaving Kuala Lumpur and climb up to the hill that is city of entertainment Genting Highland. We went there by bus. The road is in very good condition and we really love our tour from Kuala Lumpur to Genting Highland Resort. We all are very tired and finally we come to the resort and the person from Human Resource department takes us to the staff residence complex (RSC)-2. We arrive here at around 5:30 am in the morning (There are eight staff quarters in this hotel and every quarter is known by the number). The weather is very cold that day. At around 6am in the morning they give us a room. Six friends will be staying in one room and we all the friends are staying in the same floor in staff residence complex (RSC) 2. I have done my internship ship in Maxims Genting Hotel in various departments like Front office, House keeping, Food and Beverage production and Food and Beverage service. In 16th May we return back to our home country Nepal.
